یکم نومبر 2022 کو ڈویژنل فارسٹ آفیسر وائلڈ لائف دیامر استور نے اطلاع دیا کہ ایک کالے ریچھ نے استور کے فینا گاؤں میں مویشیوں کے ایک شیڈ پر رات کے وقت حملہ کرکے 16 بھیڑوں کو ہلاک کیا ہے۔ ابتدائی طور پر بتایا گیا کہ ایک ریچھ مویشیوں کے شیڈ کے اندر پھنس گیا ہے اور مقامی کمیونٹی کا غصہ عروج پر ہے اور مبینہ طور پر یہ لوگ ریچھ کو مارنے کے لیے تیار ہیں۔
مذکورہ معلومات کی وصولی کے فوراً بعد ماہرین کی ایک ٹیم بشمول ویٹرنری ڈاکٹر ضروری سائنسی آلات، ادویات، اورٹرانکوئلائزر گن کے ساتھ فوری طور پر جائے وقوعہ کی طرف روانہ ہو گئے۔ کنزرویٹر پارکس اینڈ وائلڈ لائف گلگت بلتستان کی قیادت میں ڈی ایف او وائلڈ لائف دیامر استور ، آر ایف او وائلڈ لائف ہیڈکوارٹر گلگت پر مشتمل ٹیم نے گاؤں فینا کا رخ کیا اور صورتحال کا ابتدائی جائزہ لینے کے بعد معلوم ہوا کہ وہاں ایک ریچھ کے بجائے دو ریچھ موجود تھے یعنی ایک مادہ اور ایک نر۔ معاملے کی حساسیت اور کمیونٹی کے غم و غصے کو مدنظر رکھتے ہوئے متعلقہ کمیونٹی سے مشاورت کی اور ان کی رضامندی سے ریسکیو آپریشن شروع کیا۔
ٹیم نے ان کالے ریچھوں کے لیے ایک اور بڑا لوہے کا پنجرا تیار کیا اور بڑی مادہ کو پرسکون کرنے کے لیے اضافی دوا لے کر آئی۔ اگلے دن شام 5:30 بجے تک ٹیم کامیابی کے ساتھ دونوں کالے ریچھوں کو ٹرانکولائزر گن سے بیہوش کرکے ریسیکیو کرنے میں کامیاب ہو گئی اور رات 9:00 بجے کے قریب انہیں پنجرے میں منتقل کر دیا گیا۔ محکمہ نے کچھ سال قبل ایک ٹرانکولائزر گن خریاد تھا لیکن اب پہلی دفعہ اس کا کامیابی کے ساتھ آر ایف او سرمد۔شفاء نے اس کا استعمال کیا جو کہ ایک الگ کامیابی ہے۔ اس سے مستقبل میں ایسے حالات میں بھی اس گن کا استعمال کیا جائیگا اور تمام فیلڈ سٹاف کو اس کی باقاعدہ تربیت بھی دی جائیگی۔ دونوں ریچھوں کو کامیابی کے ساتھ مقامی کمیونٹی اور رضاکاروں کی مدد سے ان کے قدرتی رہائش گاہ میں چھوڑدیا گیا
محکمہ جنگلات، پارکس و جنگلی حیات گلگت بلتستان کی جانب سے بہترین تعاون پیش کرنے اور ان قیمتی اور خوبصورت جنگلی حیات کی تحفظ کرنے پر فینا استور کی مقامی کمیونٹی، رضاکاران اور اس ریسکیو آپریشن میں دن رات چوبیس گھنٹے اپنے فرائض ادا کرنے والے سٹاف ، ڈسٹرکٹ ایڈمنسٹریشن استور اور میڈیا ٹیم کے تعاون کے شکر گزار ہیں اور اس امید کا بھی اظہار کرتے ہیں کہ آئندہ بھی جنگلی حیات کی نشوونما ، ترقی اور تحفظ کیلئے اسی طرح کا تعاون جاری رہے گا۔
The highest ever offered bid in respect of Astore Markhor in the history of Trophy Hunting this year. Gilgit Baltistan Parks and Wildlife Department introduced trophy hunting program with the involvement of the community of Bar Valley in 1990.
Trophy hunting of Markhor, Blue Sheep and Ibex is permissible in the Gilgit Baltistan (Pakistan), subject to such rules and regulations as are provided in the Gilgit Baltistan Wildlife (Protection, Preservation, Conservation, and Management) Act, 1975. The hunting of Markhor , Blue sheep and Ibex is otherwise prohibited under the general ban imposed by the Govt. of Pakistan and their hunting in Gilgit Baltistan is allowed, as a special case, only in the Community Managed Conservation Areas.The Trophy Hunting Initiative is a source of revenue for both the locals of the Community Controlled Hunting Areas (CMHA’s)/Community Managed Conservation Areas (CMA’s) and the supervising government department. Presently, 47 CMHA’s/CMA’s have been notified in Gilgit-Baltistan.
The cleanup drive at khunjerab park has been initiated to make eco friendly environment. .WLMO Hunza-Nagar led the campaign to ensure the drive as desired. Public waste disposal has been installed to make it convenient to save natural habitat
On the directives of CF gilgit region a successful raid has been made by a team of Sai range under lead of SDFO Rehmatullah baig. during search operations, Around 100 sleepers of 400 cft has been recovered from multiple locations, hidden under rocks and bushes, along the road and nallah.
The timber has been handed over to RFO raid and depot subsequently.
Directorate of Central Karakoram National Park, Gilgit-Baltistan, collected 1610 kilograms of garbage during the cleaning operation between K2 Base Camp and Camp 4 and transported to Base Camp by organizing a special dedicated Expedition from July 19 to August 18, 2022.

Visit of Chief Secretary, Gilgit Baltistan to the Forest Park Skardu. CS appreciated the projects, especially the new outdoor gym, undertaken by the Forest Department in collaboration with WHO and District Administration, and gave valuable suggestions for the further improvement of the park.
